Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place a large white towel on a tabletop, then set your Seiko Coutura watch on it with the dial or face pointing down. Curl up the ends of the towel to form tube-like walls, so you will not lose a small piece under spring pressure if it releases.
Open the folding clasp, allowing access to the clasp face. Look at the small metal sheet on the clasp, also called a spring bar slide. You will see small raised nibs, or pin heads, and recessed depressions or holes on the slide. Depress the spring bar using a spring bar tool and then slide the bracelet end until the nib moves to the next depressed hole. Holes toward the end of the clasp enlarge the band. Reverse for tightening.
Adjust one hole at a time, instead of sliding the bracelet end too far. Do not push the spring bar too far next to the edge of the clasp, since it could fly off and become lost.
Turn the watch over to show the other side of the clasp. Push the spring bar using the spring bar tool, like you did on the opposite side. Slide the bracelet end until the nib advances to the next depressed hole. Make sure it snaps into place.
Remove the watch from the table and open the folding clasp. Fit the watch on your wrist and note any improvement. if you have not adjusted enough, perform the same adjusting procedure on one side at a time. Lengthening the spring bar will open up the watch for a larger fit, while shortening it will decrease the diameter for a tighter fit.
