Script Info
Script info contains information about the subtitle file including the title, who created it, type of script and PlayRes Y. PlayRes Y is the most important as it scales everything in your script, from font size to positioning. It uses your computer monitor̵7;s resolution as its value. This means that a script file writing on a high-resolution screen won̵7;t work correctly when replayed on a low-resolution screen.
V4 Styles
V4 Styles is a list of style definitions that determine how text looks on the screen. It includes options on font style, size, color, position and alignment. Some specific options include primary color, secondary color, tertiary color, bold, italic, border style, outline shadow and margins.
Events
Events is the text you want to display at a particular time. You have the option to assign certain attributes to the text, such as style, position and effect. It is up to the fansubber to know who is speaking and to get the timing correct for text placement on the screen at the time each person in the film is speaking.
Matroska
Matroska is a multimedia storage container program where you store your fansubbing work. When you save your work in the Matroska program, it converts all text to UTF-8. It stores all headers in CodecPrivate. Matroska uses the start and end field to set the time stamp and block duration element. It stores events in the block in a specific order. The ReadOrder field enables the decoder to reorder the subtitles as they were in the original file.
