How to Troubleshoot a Place Diverter

A place diverter is responsible for reducing drag, increasing power and giving you added control over your engine-powered boat, so it is vital that this component is working correctly. Due to the mechanical complexity and importance of a place diverter, major repairs should be left to an expert. Thankfully, however, there are some relatively simple troubleshooting steps that you can take before you must call an expert. These troubleshooting tips may fix any issues you are having with the operation of your place diverter.

Instructions

    • 1

Check all screws for tightness, and use a wrench to tighten loose screws. Any looseness in the screws that hold the unit in place could cause the machine to malfunction.

    • 2

Tighten the hydraulic fittings, which are deliberately loose when you buy the product. Use sealant to position and tighten the fittings according to your users manual.

    • 3

Modify the position of your nozzle to avoid any problems during normal use. It is worth noting that for a strong reverse thrust, your nozzle should be positioned slightly downward (it can be moved 20 degrees up or down). For standard left or right movement, the nozzle should be straight out.

Make sure the control box of the place diverter is properly installed. It should be installed to the right of the driver's seat with a minimum of excess space and give. If the installation does not meet this standard, have it refitted by an expert.
