How to Make a Loop Out of Toilet Paper for a Roller Coaster

A model roller coaster can be made from materials found around the home. To make the loop of the roller coaster hold its shape when made from toilet paper, treat the paper to increase its rigidity. You will need supplies from a hobby store and tools that most homes have on hand. No special protective clothing, eye gear or headgear needs to be worn.

Things You'll Need

Newspaper
Glass bowl, half gallon
White glue

Instructions

  Unroll 20 squares of toilet paper from the roll. Tear the strip of toilet paper from the roll. Separate each square from the other. Place a sheet of newspaper on a table. Place a glass bowl on the newspaper.

  Tear up the squares of toilet paper with your hands. Place a third of the torn up pieces in the bowl.

  Squirt white glue into the bowl for two seconds. Mush up the paper with the glue using your fingers. Continue to do this for a minute. Add another third of the torn-up pieces to the inside of the bowl. Squirt white glue into the bowl for two seconds. Mush up the paper with the glue using your fingers for another two minutes.

  Add the remainder of the torn bits of toilet paper to the bowl. Squire white glue into the bowl for two seconds, and mush the paper with the glue for another two minutes.

  Pull the mashed up paper out of the bowl. Rub the paper between your hands to form a rod. Place the rod horizontally on the table. Flatten the rod with your fingers.

  Pull the two ends of the flattened rod up and over to the other sides to form a loop. Let your roller coaster loop dry overnight so it can become rigid.
