How to Create a Fake Window With a Scene

A faux window can be set up in a house or put on the wall to display as a decoration. You can make a fake window by using a piece of clear plexiglass. To do this you will require the dimensions for the window before you begin construction of the frame. The frame for your fake window can be made from materials that you can obtain from a local home improvement store.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width and height of a window in your house with a tape measure. Note the measurements on a piece of paper

    • 2

Measure the 2-inch by 2-inch board to the width of the window. Cut two pieces to this size with a miter saw. Measure and cut two 2-inch by 2-inch boards to the height of the window, minus 4 inches.

    • 3

Set the blade of the table saw to 1/2 of an inch. Position the guide of the table saw to 1-inch. Run each cut piece of 2-inch by 2-inch board over the blade to make a groove.

    • 4

Measure and cut a piece of plexiglass to the width and height measurements in step 2. Place the groove of the cut pieces of wood on the edge of the plexiglass.

    • 5

Drill a pilot hole at each corner where two boards meet with the power drill. Secure the boards with the screws using the power drill.

    • 6

Peel off the backing and place the plastic window sticker on the plexiglass. Set the completed window up on display.
