Instructions
Bend the metal wire into a half circle. This is going to be the hook portion of your purse table hook. Bend one end of the wire at a 160-degree angle toward the other end, 1/2 inch away from the end. This end will be soldered to the silver plate.
Measure 3/4 inches away from each corner along the edge of your silver plate. Cut a 1/2-inch deep groove into the plate that is 1/8-inch wide using your jewelers saw.
Position the 1/2-inch section of the wire that you bent in Step 1 inside the groove that is cut into the plate so it bends over the plate, not away. This portion of the wire is parallel with the plate. The side that you see now will rest on the table. Heat the plate and the wire with your brazing torch until it starts to glow -- do not melt the silver. Heat up the silver solder and melt it on to the silver wire and silver plate. Let the metal cool for 20 minutes.
Polish the silver so it shines. Set the plate on the table so the wire hangs down and curves underneath the table. Hang your purse or handbag on the hook to keep it off the table and the floor.
