How to Make an Origami Paper Sniper Without Tape

A sniper rifle utilizes a long barrel for shooting at targets that are far away. Make your own pretend sniper rifle from folded sheets of paper. The folding of the paper to make the rifle uses the technique called origami, first crafted by the Japanese. The procedure is straightforward and requires supplies from a crafts store, and tools from around the house will be needed. No adhesive or tape is used.

Things You'll Need

3 sheets construction paper, 11-by-14 inches
Cellophane tape
Origami paper, 5-by-5 inches

Instructions

  Place a sheet of construction paper vertically on a table. Fold the left side over to the right and smooth the crease with your fingers. Fold the top over to the bottom and smooth the crease with your fingers. Place the paper, which is now the stock of your sniper rifle, aside for now.

  Place a sheet of construction paper horizontally on the table. Roll the top of the paper to the bottom to form a tube. Pinch the ends of the tube to keep the paper from unfolding.

  Place a sheet of construction paper horizontally on the table. Fold the top over to the bottom. Smooth the crease down. Repeat this procedure a second time to make the body of the sniper rifle.

  Place the square of origami paper on the table. Fold the left side over to the right side and smooth the crease down. Pinch the bottom of the paper to form a point, which will be the trigger of your sniper rifle.

  Place the paper that is your stock on the table with the ends that are open facing right. Place the paper that is the body of your rifle horizontally on the paper to the right of the paper that is the stock. Push the end of the paper body into the open end of the paper that is the stock.

  Place the tube horizontally to the right of the paper that is the body of the rifle. Insert the left end of the tube into the open end of the paper that is the body of the rifle.

  Insert the top of the paper that is the trigger into the slit at the bottom of the body. Hold your sniper rifle up and look down the barrel as you aim the front at a far-off target.
