How to Put the Servos in a Parkzone Decathlon

The Parkzone Decathlon remote-controlled hobby plane is sold practically fully assembled, and all you need to do to get it ready to fly is to perform minor assembly tasks. It includes its own three-wire servos, a brushless motor and an electronic speed control, but you need to install your own receiver. You may need to trim the servo wires to fit the servo contacts of some receiver models. Once you adjust and connect the servo leads to the receiver, you should test the installation to make sure you connected the servo properly.

Things You'll Need

  • Radio-controlled air receiver and transmitter
  • Sharp hobby knife
  • Fully charged flight battery (Parkzone 800mAh 2S Li-Po/PKZ1032 is recommended)

Instructions

    • 1

Place your receiver in the special compartment located to the rear of the battery compartment on the bottom of your Decathlon.

    • 2

Trim the three servo leads with a sharp hobby knife if you are unable to connect them to the contacts of your receiver. Trimming is usually necessary for Spektrum, JR and HiTec receivers. Plug the leads into the corresponding servo terminals of your receiver.

    • 3

Turn on your transmitter with the throttle in the "Off" position. Install a fully charged flight battery into the battery compartment of your Decathlon and plug it into the provided electronic speed control.

    • 4

Check your transmitter's readout to make sure it detects a receiver. If it does not, unplug the servo leads and insert them into another channel of your receiver. Repeat until your transmitter shows the presence of a receiver. Trim the leads further for a more secure fit if you do not see positive results from any channel.

    • 5

Finish assembling and programming your Decathlon before flying it for the first time.
