Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place the chair in a portion of your home or backyard where you want to take the picture. Because it is a head shot, the background is relatively unimportant, but it also shouldn't be too busy. A plain, single-color background is best, whether it be a wall, a fence or a hedge.
Screw the camera onto the tripod support, and then level the camera in position so the bottom of the viewer shows just below the upper portion of the chair's backrest. Zoom in the lens slightly so the left and right side of the viewer are positioned just outside the sides of the chair back.
Set the camera's delay timer and then seat yourself in the chair, sitting up straight in the seat. Tilt your head slightly and look directly at the camera lens. When the picture is taken, look at it on the view screen to make sure it is to your liking.
Adjust the camera slightly to tighten up the picture, if necessary. When producing a head shot, the picture should encompass your entire head, including your hair, as well as most of your neck down to your collarbone. Continue tightening the zoom of the camera and taking test photographs until you have obtained a picture that satisfies you.
