How to Drill a Longboard

When you drill holes into your longboard skateboard at the final step of construction, you can then mount the trucks and wheels to the deck. You might also have the need for sixth mounting holes, due to larger truck bases or for added support. Proper placement of the hardware mounting holes is essential for correct weight support and distribution. Otherwise, you might have difficulty riding and performing tricks on your longboard. Prepare and drill the holes into your longboard in less than 10 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your longboard face-down on the ground. Stand on top of it in a riding stance. Take note of where your trucks would do the best job of supporting your weight during extreme turns. There needs to be enough room in between the two trucks for you to lean as much as need be.

    • 2

Place a truck and wheel set over the two spots determined to be the best place to mount the hardware. Mark the mounting holes with a pencil. Depending on the type trucks you are mounting, there might be either four or six holes. Make sure the trucks are aligned properly before making your marks.

    • 3

Place the deck face-down onto two cement blocks, with the front truck's mounting holes in between them. Drill the holes you have marked with the appropriate-sized drill bit from your set. Repeat for the back truck's mounting holes as well.
