How to Troubleshoot the Kilowatt Clutch on a Murray Go Kart

As with any other vehicle, the clutch on a Murray Kilowatt go kart is an utterly vital component in the operation of the go kart. As Murray, the manufacturers of the go kart and associated clutch, make clear, amateur repair of the clutch is not possible. For serious problems the user must take the vehicle to a registered dealer or other expert. However, you can take steps to maintain the clutch and solve any minor issues, which are often due to a case of poor lubrication.

Lubricating oil spray

Instructions

  Remove the mounting screws that hold the torque converter cover in place and lift the torque converter cover off, gaining access to the torque converter driver.

  Use a clean cloth to wipe both halves of the torque converter driver housing clean. Now lightly spray the inside of both driver halves with lubricating oil.

  Lubricate the hub in the same manner, spraying lubricating oil onto the mechanism.

  Avoid spraying any lubricant on to outside of the driver housing or the drive disc. This could cause the drive belt to slip.
- 5
  Replace the torque converter driver housing and replace the mounting screws.
