Instructions
Hydrate your vocal chords frequently during the day, even when you are not singing or practicing. Drink at least two quarts of water each day, regardless of whether you are singing. Take breaks in between recording and singing to drink water, keeping your vocal chords hydrated enough to produce sounds easily without making your throat feel harsh and dry.
Take deep breaths and practice various breathing exercises to continue inhaling an adequate amount of oxygen during singing and at all times throughout the day. Practice taking deep breaths and holding in the air for more than a few seconds to fully open and expand your lung capacity before singing.
Avoid clearing your throat and coughing as much as possible. Instead, drink water to help keep your vocal chords hydrated and clear when speaking and singing. Gently cough slowly, once at a time, to help relieve your throat if you have an overabundance of irritation-causing mucus.
Practice your singing range by singing in various octaves each day, regardless of whether you are performing or singing in front of others. Exercising your vocal chords each day is essential to keeping them in tune and sounding airy and healthy.
