How to Make Your Own Fishing Rod Carry Tube

A fisherman should use a sturdy material, such as PVC, to create a fishing rod carry tube. Not only does PVC float in water, but it also holds up well against the elements. To make the tube, first purchase a piece of PVC pipe that is at least four inches longer than your fishing rod. If you use a thin, single-handed fishing rod, select a 2-inch diameter PVC pipe. For a bulkier rod, select a PVC pipe that is 2 1/2 or 3 inches in diameter. Also purchase one PVC end cap and one PVC screw cap; make sure these caps fit the width of the PVC pipe.

Slide the fishing rod into the tube and seal the tube by twisting the screw cap on the open end of the pipe. The PVC carry tube will protect your fishing rod from the elements.
