Instructions

  1. Kitchen Furniture

    • 1

Insert a glue stick in the glue gun. Plug the glue gun in and allow it to heat up.

    • 2

Make a lovely kitchen table from an orange juice container and a butter tub lid. Squeeze a spot of hot glue on the bottom of the frozen orange juice concentrate container. Center the container in the middle of the butter tub lid. Cut a circle of fabric large enough to cover the tub lid and hand down like a table cloth. Place small spots of glue around the edge of the lid and spread the table cloth over the table.

    • 3

Assemble kitchen chairs using plastic yogurt containers. Starting at the top lip of one yogurt container cut down the side, through the bottom, and back up the other side resulting in two equal halves of the container. Place a large spot of hot glue on the bottom of one half of the yogurt container. Press the bottom of the half container against the bottom of one of the remaining complete containers. Repeat this process for the second kitchen chair. Paint the chairs with acrylics or cover in paper or fabric in the color of choice for the kitchen.

    • 4

Build a refrigerator from an empty cheese box. Remove the lid from the Velveeta box and paint it white. Cut squares of cardboard to fit snuggly inside the box, to act as refrigerator shelves. Secure the shelves with drops of hot glue. Draw the refrigerator door on the dried lid of the Velveeta box. Cut the door across the top, down one side and along the bottom. Fold the door along the fourth uncut side.

    Living Room Furniture

Construct living room seating for the doll house out of an empty box. Remove the lid from a Velveeta box. Cut one of the long sides off of the lid leaving the short sides and a back for the form of the couch. Trim the short sides of the lid to couch arm height and shape the long side to the desired form for the back of the couch. Turn the bottom of the Velveeta box over with the opening facing down. Apply hot glue to the solid bottom and press the top of the Velveeta box against the glue on the bottom. Apply liberal amounts of hot glue over the surface of the couch and the base. Cut pieces of quilt batting to pad the couch with. Press the batting on the box. Cut a piece of fabric to completely cover the cover. Glue the fabric over the couch tucking and gluing as necessary to get the desired look.

    • 6

Make a side table to grace the arm of the doll couch. Apply hot glue to the center underside of a yogurt lid. Press one end of a thread spool into the glue and allow the glue to dry. Stand the end table upright and cover or paint the yogurt lid.

Construct a miniature television for the living room. Paint the cream cheese box black. Spread white glue on the back of the Sunday comic. Glue the comic in the center of the cream cheese box. Paint knobs beside the comic to represent the buttons on a TV.

Build a doll bed using a cereal box, foam sheet, and fabric. Tape the cereal box closed. Paint the box brown. Allow the paint to dry. Completely wrap the foam sheet in a piece of fabric. Apply hot glue to one of the wide sides of the cereal box. Press the fabric covered foam sheet against the glue. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 9

Assemble a desk for the doll house with drawers that open. Apply glue to the top of a small, empty, match box. Stack another match box on top of the glue covered box. Apply glue to the top of the second box and stack a third match box on top of the stack. The first leg of the desk is complete. Repeat this procedure to create a second leg. Cut a strip of cardboard for the desk top. Glue the matchbox legs to the cardboard top.

Assemble a desk chair using plastic yogurt containers. Finish the chair by painting the chair or covering it in fabric.
