DIY: CO2 Filling

Carbon dioxide can be compressed and placed into air tanks which are then used to power pressurized gas systems. If you're maintaining an aquarium or playing paintball, then you've probably used a CO2 tank before. Inevitably, the gas inside of the CO2 tank will eventually run out, requiring you to refill the tank. If you have access to a larger CO2 tank that includes a refilling nozzle, it's easy to refill the tank by yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the refill cable coming out of the larger CO2 tank to the top of your CO2 tank.

    • 2

Screw the refill cap on to the top of the CO2 tank you are refilling to ensure no gas leaks out when you begin to refill it.

    • 3

Pull down the gas lever connected to the larger CO2 tank at the end of the refill gas line to begin releasing gas out of the larger CO2 tank.

    • 4

Monitor the pressure gauge on the larger CO2 tank and keep refilling the smaller tank until the pressure indicated on the gauge reaches its maximum value.

    • 5

Pull the lever in the opposite direction to stop the flow of gas into the smaller tank and finish the refilling procedure.
