Things You'll Need
Instructions
Cover a flat, solid surface with newspaper or a bed sheet that you do not mind getting dirty. Lay the guitar down flat on its back.
Locate the centerline that runs vertically on the bout of the guitar and drill a pilot hole. This hole should accommodate the size of the screw.
Insert the strap button screw into the strap button. Use a screwdriver to slowly turn the strap button into the hole until the screw is completely threaded. Drive the screw in tight enough so that it does not rattle or spin, but use caution so you don't crack the wood.
Place the guitar strap around your neck as if it were a tie. Adjust the length of the guitar strap by holding one end of the strap and loosening the other end from the buckle. Leave enough space to place the guitar around your neck. Make sure you have room for your fretting and picking hands.
Locate one of the pre-made holes at the very end of the guitar strap. Take the acoustic guitar shoelace, which is basically a sturdy piece of string, and thread one end through the hole.
Hold one end of the acoustic guitar shoelace and guide the opposite end behind the guitar neck, directly underneath the nut. Take this end and come back around, passing the string underneath the guitar strings.
Tie both ends of the acoustic guitar shoelace together with a secure knot. The guitar should now hang comfortably on your shoulder. If you're not comfortable, put the guitar down and adjust the straps accordingly.
