Instructions
Place the tip of your fist finger just in front of the first fret on the first string. This is the easiest note to play because it requires the least amount of finger force.
Position your thumb behind the neck of the guitar. You may also grip the top of the neck slightly with your thumb.
Push down with your first finger and then pluck the first string. If the note sounds muted, push harder or readjust your finger so that it is further in front of the fret.
Place your middle finger on the second fret and then pluck the string. Continue until you use all four fingers.
Practice plucking each finger on each string as you work your way up to the top string of the guitar. You may also choose to play scales, which will utilize all your fingers.
