  • Pail
  • Potato masher
  • Campden tablet

      Destem the grapes.

      Place the clusters of grapes in the straining bag and then drop the bag into the pail.

      Grind the grapes inside the bag with a potato masher by pressing down forcefully, while using a twisting motion. Do only as much grinding as necessary to squeeze out the juice; overgrinding will tear the grape tissues and crack the seeds.

      Crush the campden tablet into a powder and then sprinkle it on the grapes.

      Cover with a cheesecloth and wait 1 hour. Then, you will be ready to start making wine.
