How to Correct the Water Vapor Pressure of a Barometer

When you want to observe the barometric pressure for water vapor in your area you will require the use of a barometer. One type of barometer for use in your home is an indoor/outdoor unit. You can use this type of barometer to observe the weather and predict future changes. If your barometer appears stuck you will need to adjust it to detect the correct pressure of the vapor in the air.

Flat-head screwdriver

  Place the barometer face down on a table or desk. Find the small slot that is used to make adjustments to the barometer.

  Insert the end of a flat head screwdriver into the slot on the back of the barometer. Turn the screwdriver clockwise or counterclockwise to move the indicator hand to the correct reading.

  Turn the knob on the front of the barometer to set the pointer hand. The pointer hand is used to see how the barometer indicator hand moves when changes in pressure occur.
