Making the Toga
Adjust the sheet size to fit your body. The width (left to right) of the sheet needs to be its greatest dimension, but its length (top to bottom) should be around shoulder height. If the length is significantly greater than your height, either cut off the excess or fold it until the sheet is the right length, then use safety pins at 1-foot intervals along the folded-down edge to keep it in place.
Wrap the left side of the sheet around to the front of your left arm and down into the crook of your left arm.
Bring the fabric in your right hand loosely under your right armpit, across your front, over your left shoulder, across your back, and back to your right side, about 3 inches above your waist.
Keeping it loose, bring the fabric that is in the crook of your left arm under the toga, across your front, and towards the back of your right side. Tie a knot with the fabric from step 4 at the respective corners.
Accessorizing
Create a laurel wreath. Take a wire clothes hanger, untwist it until it is straight, and then fold it in half. Take leaves and twigs (either real or fake) and place the stems between folded wires. Space the leaves evenly and do not leave gaps. To secure the leaves, twist the hanger in a clockwise fashion, like if you were using a corkscrew, until the stems of the leaves are firmly compressed between the two lengths of wire. Bend the entire thing into a U shape and set it on your head.
Make a stylus and scroll. For the scroll, get a large piece of blank white paper, lay it flat in a pan, and poor weak tea or coffee over it. Let the paper sit for two minutes, remove, and let dry (or blow with a hair dryer). Roll the sheet up, wrap a ribbon around it, and tie a bow. For the stylus, cut a wooden dowel down to a foot in length. Using a sharp knife, shave a blunt point into one edge of the dowel.
Make a cloak. Wrap a heavy piece of cloth, such as a blanket, around your neck and right shoulder, leaving your left arm uncovered. Secure the two sides of the cloth together with a safety pin or a brooch.
