How to Tell the Years of Miller Welding Machines

Miller has been manufacturing welding machines since 1967. Knowing the year your Miller welding machine was made is important when making repairs or purchasing replacement parts. Users who do not know when their welding machine was manufactured can still identify the year if they know the serial number of the product.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the serial number of the welding machine and write it down or commit it to memory. The number is usually found on the rear panel or on the back of the unit.

    • 2

Open your web browser and navigate to the ̶0;Serial Number Reference Chart̶1; sub page of the Miller company website. The first one or two letters or numbers of the serial number represent the year the product was made. For example, a serial number reading 71-559155 or 71-581468 indicates that the welding machine was built in 1971 while a serial number reading LG01001 or LG26001 reveals that the machine was manufactured in 2006.

Peruse the ̶0;Serial #̶1; column until you find the number that corresponds with your Miller welding machine. The year the product was manufactured is in the ̶0;Yr/Month̶1; column found to the left of the serial number.
