Instructions
Make sure all the straps, clasps, buttons and lashings are in place before you set off. Being properly strapped in will help your own stability, as well as stabilizing the kayak itself -- optimizing its performance.
Shed any excess weight. Every pound counts when riding an inflatable kayak. Shedding anything that's not entirely necessary is a great way to pick up speed and gain agility in your Intex K1.
Purchase a top-of-the-line paddle. You may be tempted to consider only the body of the Intex K1, but a good paddle can significantly add to the performance of the kayak -- due to its speed in cutting through the water.
Consider the water conditions before setting off. The Intex K1 is an inflatable kayak, so it's more prone to suffer from the whims of a rough sea. Waves and wind will severely affect your performance, so wait until a lull in the conditions before you take to the water.
Avoid gripping the paddles too hard. It is human nature to clasp on to this vital component tightly. But if you loosen the grip, it allows your muscles to relax and the blood to flow to your joints more freely, which will help propel you faster and improve performance.
