Instructions
Place a post bracket at one end of a 4-by-4 board. Mark the location of the mounting holes with a pencil. Drill pilot holes into the top of the 4-by-4 board with the power drill. Mark the top of a second 4-by-4 board.
Place a post bracket on top of a 4-by-4 board and align the mounting holes. Insert carriage bolts into the holes and tighten them with a socket wrench. Repeat this step on the other 4-by-4 boards.
Measure and cut two 3-foot sections from a third 4-by-4 post. Cut a 45 degree angle on the end of each section with the miter saw.
Set the 4-by-4 posts with the post brackets upright on the ground. Secure the posts by attaching 2-by-4 boards to each post.
Place the remaining 4-by-4 post horizontally on top of the two upright 4-by-4 posts. Drill pilot holes for the mounting bolts through the post bracket. Secure the post bracket to the 4-by-4 post using a socket wrench.
Set a 3-foot cut section of 4-by-4 at an angle from the top 4-by-4 post to an upright 4-by-4 post. Make a mark on the top post and upright post for the location of the post bracket. Repeat this step to mark the other 3-foot 4-by-4 section.
Secure the post brackets to the top and upright posts. Set each 3-foot 4-by-4 section in place and secure to the post brackets with the carriage bolts.
Drill a hole through the center of the top 4-by-4 post and insert an eye bolt through the hole. Secure the eye bolt with a nut and washer. Place the washer over the threads and then tighten the nut with a socket wrench.
