How to Ask a Person to Be a Sponsor for Your Club

Make a list of the benefits of sponsoring your club. Some benefits of sponsorship might include earning community support or creating new business leads, or your club may have a good reputation that could be of value to a local business. Think about why you would want to sponsor your club and list those reasons.

Create a second list of people or organizations that may be interested in your club. If you can find businesses that are involved in the same field as your club, asking for sponsorship will make more sense. For instance, if your club is devoted to toy collecting, a local comic book shop or antique toy store would make an excellent sponsor.

Draft a letter that will eventually be sent to your potential sponsor. Outline the things your club does, why those things are positive for the community and how your potential sponsor will benefit from your actions. Mention how much money you are trying to raise and how much time you have to raise it.

Find interesting ways for your club to highlight its sponsors. Most sponsors are looking for something in return when they donate to an organization ̵1; putting their name on your programs, uniforms or big projects is a good way to keep money coming in.
