Things You'll Need
Instructions
Rack back the shotgun's bolt action several times to remove any shells that may be in the magazine, then visually inspect the firing chamber to ensure no live shells remain chambered.
Attach the shotgun head jag to your flexible bore rod, then attach a clean cloth swatch to the jag.
Dip the cloth in cleaning solvent, then insert the rod into the firing chamber and down the barrel of the shotgun so that the jag is at the back of the chamber.
Grasp the rod by the end poking out of the shotgun barrel and pull the rod all the way out of the barrel. Do this several times to scrub out any dirt or particulates in the shotgun barrel.
Remove the cleaning jag from the end of the rod and attach the shotgun-sized bore brush instead.
Repeat the same procedure with the bore brush that you used with the cleaning jag. This will scrub loose any caked-on gunpowder residue or particulates.
Attach the cleaning jag again and put on a clean cloth. Pass this cloth through the barrel several times to pick up the grime the bore brush knocked loose. Continue doing this until the cloth comes out clean.
