How to Assemble Traxxas Revo Transmissions

Traxxas Revo two-speed transmissions are used in the nitro powered radio controlled Revo 3.3 cars to gain added speed and keep the model's engine from working too hard to gain top speed. This prevents overheating and premature wear of the drive train components of the model. Revo transmissions are sealed units, and should not be disassembled completely. Changing the Revo clutch assembly typically does not require you to fully disassemble the transmission.

Instructions

    • 1

Print out a copy of Traxxas' exploded view engine/transmission schematic if you don't already have a copy. This engine schematic is referenced below. Place the engine/transmission schematic where you can see it easily from where you are working.

    • 2

Lay out the parts of the Revo transmission from left to right in the precise order as you see them on the diagram. If you have lost any parts of the transmission, purchase their replacements before proceeding.

    • 3

Assemble the constituent gears for the transmission before placing them within the plastic housing of the transmission. With some parts of the transmission, you will find that it is easier to hold the plastic housing in your hand, and then install the parts one layer at a time. This will allow you to see how the unit fits together.

    • 4

Enclose the transmission housing's two case halves, and screw them together with a screwdriver.
