Things You'll Need
Instructions
Remove the bolts or screws holding the two halves of the motor casing together; use a wrench or screwdriver.
Lift off the top half of the casing using your hands. You can now access the armature windings.
Locate the commutator ring at the front of the armature. Slowly rotate the armature using your hand. As you move it around, you see bare copper wires extending from the windings that connect to the commutator ring.
Look to find any wires that are detached. If there aren̵7;t any detached wires, then it means that the wire windings around the central part of the armature are broken internally. Rewinding an armature must be done professionally, usually using a specialist tool, so you must take the motor to a repair store.
Heat a soldering iron.
Place the end of the detached copper wire onto the edge of the commutator. You can easily see where it used to be attached, because you can see some solder. Use a pair of long-nosed pliers to hold the wire in place.
Put the end of the soldering iron and the solder onto the edge of the commutator and copper wire. Let a little solder melt and immediately remove the solder and solder iron, but keep holding the wire using the pliers. Let the solder solidify then remove the pliers. Repeat the process for any other wires that are detached from the commutator.
Replace the top half of the motor casing onto the bottom half. Replace the screws or bolts and tighten them.
