How to Adjust the Drive Chain on a Sled

Many vehicles make use of a drive chain, described as a roller chain passing over a sprocket gear, to provide power to the vehicle's wheels. If you need to adjust the drive chain on your snowmobile, you can do so easily, since the drive chain is simple to access from the bottom of the vehicle.

      Raise your sled off the ground with a sled stand. Remove the drain plug from the chain case to drain any excess oil from the chain.

      Remove the chain case cover from the bottom of the sled.

      Adjust the drive chain on the sled by loosening or tightening the lock nut on the chain with a wrench from your wrench set.

    • 4

      Replace the drive chain cover and lower the sled when you have finished adjusting the chain.
