Instructions
Dial the number on your Master Lock to "0." Pull on the hook and keep applying tension while you turn the dial. It will become stuck at a certain number, either on the whole number or between two numbers. Note the number where the dial is stuck.
Release the tension and turn the dial past the number that the dial got stuck, then pull on the hook again. Keep on turning the dial until the lock gets stuck again. Note that number. Repeat this step until you go all the way around the dial, writing down 12 numbers. You should have five numbers that end in whole numbers and seven that end in a 0.5.
Write the five whole numbers down on a separate part of the paper. Circle the numbers that end with the same number, of which there should be four. The one number that sticks out is the third number of the three-digit combination. To attain the first and second digits of the combination, divide that number by 4 to determine what the remainder, if any, is. Using 20 as an example, divide 20 by 4, equaling 5. If your division ends in a remainder, use the remainder to get the first and second digits of the combination. If your division equals a whole number, as in this example, use 0.
Add 4 to 0 (using the above example) until you get to the last number possible before reaching 39, writing those numbers down. In this example the numbers would be 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36. One of these numbers will be the first number of the three digit combinations.
Add 2 to a remainder of 0 or 1 (from Step 3). If the remainder was 3, subtract 2 from that number. In this example, the remainder was 0, so it would be 2. Then keep on adding 4. Therefore, 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, 30, 34, 38. One of these numbers will be the second number of the three digit combination.
Test the various combinations by dialing in the first numbers from Step 4, the second numbers from Step 5 and the third number from Step 3. This should only take a few minutes because there are only 100 possible combinations.
