Place a bath towel on a table. Place the picture to be illuminated face down on the towel. Place the picture light box face down on the towel, to one side of the picture.
Remove the screws from the back corners of the box with the type of screwdriver that is appropriate for the slots in the screws: this could be a Phillips screwdriver or a Torx screwdriver or a flat-edged screwdriver. Place the screws aside after they have been removed.
Pull the back frame off the front. After turning it over, place the front aside. Put the back frame on the towel with the inside facing up.
Unscrew the four tabs at the corners of the frame. Place the tabs aside. Remove the plastic sheet from the frame. Place the sheet on the towel, to the side of the frame.
Place the picture, image side up, on the frame so that the corners line up with where you removed the tabs.
Hold the sheet by the edges. Blow off both sides of the sheet with bursts of compressed air to remove loose dust. Angle the sheet to see if there are any smudge marks. If there are marks on the sheet, wipe the sheet clean with a soft cloth moistened in lens-cleaning solution.
Place the sheet on the frame, over the picture. Screw in the tabs. Place the front of the box back on the towel, face down. Place the back frame on the front, picture side toward the frame. Reattach the tabs to the back.
Pull the stand flap out from the back. Stand the picture light box on the table. Put the towel away. Plug the box's power cord into a wall outlet. Press the power button to turn the LED lights in the box on. Admire the picture now that it's illuminated.
