Things You'll Need
Instructions
Ensure your light set is not plugged into the electricity supply before wiring the multi-function unit. Cut the wire on your light set about halfway between the transformer and the first light in the light set using a knife.
Using wire strippers, remove 1/2 inch of the protective outer coating of the ends of the two halves of the wire cut, then remove ¼ inch of the plastic off the ends of the two internal wires extending from both halves.
Remove the cover from the multi-function light unit. Undo the screws holding the cover in place using a screwdriver then lift off the cover. Inside the unit you will see two terminals at each end.
Loosen the terminal screws using a screwdriver, but don't remove them. Look at the terminal labels. One set indicates "In" and the other "Out," or similar. Each terminal also has a "+" and a "-" marked on or near the screw.
Slide the red wire on the end of the wire from the transformer under the "+" terminal screw on the "In" side and then tighten the screw. Slide the black wire from the transformer under the "-" terminal screw on the "In" side and tighten the screw.
Repeat the process for the wires from the light set. Connect the red wire from the light set to the "+" terminal on the "Out" side and the black wire from the light set onto the "-" terminal on the same side. Tighten the screws.
Replace the cover on the multi-function light unit. Replace the screws and tighten them. Insert the plug from the transformer into the wall socket and turn it on. Adjust the settings on the multi-function light unit to one that suits you.
