Things You'll Need
Instructions
Lubricate the Chain
Fill the oil can with oil if necessary.
Prop the rear of the go kart up with a jack so that the wheels can spin freely. Place a rag or newspaper under the chain to catch any excess oil.
Rotate the wheel slowly with one hand while you apply oil to the chain. Continue until the entire chain has been lubricated, then allow 10 minutes for the oil to penetrate the entire chain.
Adjust the Chain
Loosen the bolts that attach the motor to the frame by turning them counter-clockwise with the wrench or a socket wrench.
Slide the motor side to side until the chain is perfectly aligned. A chain that is not straight may get stuck as the wheel rotates.
Slide the motor forward or backward until the chain is almost tight, but leave 1/2 inch of "play" in the chain. The top of the chain should dip about 1/2 inch in the center.
Tighten the bolts with the wrench or socket wrench. You may need to hold the nut underneath the frame with a second wrench while you turn the bolt clockwise.
