Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place the plastic tarp on the floor. Place the plywood square on the tarp. Place the base of each wheel assembly, wheel facing up, against one of the corners of the plywood square. Screw wood screws through the mounting holes in each base, using a Phillips screwdriver, to secure them to the square.
Turn the plywood square over. Shake a can of matte black spray paint for 20 seconds. Spray the top and sides of the square. Spray each of the wheels with the paint. Let the paint set for three hours and reapply a second coating of paint.
Wrap the end of the translucent fishing line around a wood screw. Screw the wood screw into the end of one of the sides of the square with the Phillips screwdriver.
Set up your performance by placing the wheeled platform you have made against a side of the room where it can be hidden behind a chair or table. Stand in the center of the room and face your audience. Have your assistant dim the lights.
Lift one foot and crouch a bit so that you are no longer as tall as would normally be the case. Talk to your audience to distract them as your assistant gives the platform a push so that it rolls across the floor and comes to a stop against your leg.
Continue talking as you place your raised knee on the platform. Slowly start to push yourself up as your assistant pulls the fishing line that is attached to the platform. Call attention to the audience as to how you are now "flying" as you raise and lower yourself in time with the movement of the platform so as to give the impression that you are levitating and floating across the room.
Have your assistant turn the lights out. Stand up and return to the center of the room as your assistant hides the platform and turns the light back on. Bow to the crowd.
