How to Make Double Locking Hand Cuffs

Handcuffs are designed for the sole purpose of keeping a person's hands together and unable to be separated. To make a fun pair of handcuffs that will double-lock the person they are placed on, apply the principle of the "Chinese fingertrap" to snare two fingers of each hand to the other. You need crafts supplies and some ordinary household tools. These handcuffs will not hurt anyone who wears them and can easily be removed by you at any time.

Things You'll Need

Tape measure
Streamer roll
Scissors
Masking tape
Pencil

Instructions

  Measure 10 inches from one end of the colored streamer roll. Cut the streamer at the 10-inch mark with scissors. Repeat this procedure an additional three times so that you have four lengths of streamer.

  Tape one end of one of the streamers to the other with a strip of masking tape so as to form an 80-degree angle. Repeat this procedure with the other two strips of streamers.

  Place the taped ends of one of the two sets of streamers around the eraser end of a pencil. Wrap the streamers around the pencil clockwise until you reach the other end of the pencil. Tape the two ends together with a strip of masking tape.

  Place the taped ends of the other set of streamers around the pointed end of the pencil. Wrap the streamers around the pencil counterclockwise until you reach the eraser end. Tape the two ends together with a strip of masking tape. Pull the pencil out from inside the tube that you have just made.

  Make a second tube in the same exact manner. Place the two tubes side by side. Run a strip of masking tape around the two tubes at each end to secure them together.

  Place one of the two openings at one end of the handcuffs you have made over the forefinger of the left hand of your assistant. Place the other opening at the same end over the finger next to the forefinger. Place one of the two openings at the other end over the forefinger of your assistant's right hand. Place the other opening over the finger next to the forefinger.

  Tell your assistant to try and pull his hands apart. Watch as he is unable to remove each hand from the handcuffs. Push his hands back together so that you can remove the handcuffs.
