DIY Metal Pot Rack Hook Fabrication

A pot rack that is fabricated from metal will require hooks to hang the pots and pans. Fabricating the hooks is done by first determining where they need to be placed on the pot rack. Once the placement is known, you can begin making the hooks. Materials for the project can be obtained at a home improvement store.

Things You'll Need

1/4-inch metal rod, 10 inches
Metal file
Propane torch
Work gloves
Bench vise

Instructions

  Measure 4 inches on each end of the metal rod and make a mark with the metal file.

  Ignite the propane torch and put on the work gloves. Apply heat to one of the marks you made in Step 1 until the area is red hot.

  Insert the metal rod into the bench vise. Make sure the file mark is at the edge bench vise jaws. Make a 90 degree bend in the metal.

  Remove the metal rod from the bench vise. Apply heat from the propane torch onto the other file mark and make a second 90 degree bend in the metal rod. You now have a "U" shaped metal rod.

  Measure 2 inches on one end of the U-shaped metal rod. Make a mark with the file. Apply heat to the mark and make a 90 degree bend. Repeat this step to make a 90 degree bend on the other mark.

  Repeat this process to fabricate additional hooks for your metal pot rack.
