How to Soften Brick Compound

Brick compound turns a boring dollhouse into a realistic one. It provides the dollhouse enthusiast with a method of completing a dollhouse with a brick-look finish on the outside. The brick compound comes in a powdered form. After mixing it with water, the user applies it to the outside of a doll house with a stencil and a brush. It will then harden to a brick look. If your compound material has dried out before you had a chance to apply it to the dollhouse, you can soften it again with water.

Instructions

    • 1

Add a few drops of water at a time to hardened brick compound to soften it. Mix it with a wooden craft stick, or a spoon. Continue to add a few drops of water until it reaches the consistency of a thick paste.

    • 2

Cover the mixed brick compound when you're not using it. If it dries out, it can be moistened again at any point.

    • 3

Use a wet rag to remove hardened brick compound from a dollhouse if you find you have made a mistake. Soak a rag in water and wipe the rag against the side of the house, then scrape the compound off with a butter knife or similar object. Use several rags until all the brick compound has been removed.
