Instead of carrying around a bulky notebook to record information, consider trying a bead counter. It is a cord with 10 beads that can be slid up and down so as to track information. For instance, golfers use bead counters to track their strokes, while joggers use them to track their laps. It is essentially a cheap and efficient counting system that barely costs a dollar to make. And, unlike a notebook and pen, it is compact enough to be attached to a keyring, backpack or any other device with a loop.

1
Wrap tape around the ends of the satin cord to prevent them from fraying.

Fold the cord in half so that the ends of the satin cord meet.
-
-
3
Tie a knot approximately 1 inch below the middle of the satin cord.
-
4
Thread the bottom right cord through the first bead, and then thread the bottom left cord through it from the other side. Repeat this procedure for the other nine beads.
