How to Get on a Jet Ski After Falling Off

Get back onto your jet ski properly after you have fallen off, in order to avoid injury and to regain your riding enjoyment while in the water. Some jet skis come equipped with a reboarding handle, while others are designed to let you grab onto its structure to pull yourself back onto it. Reboarding your jet ski immediately after falling off is necessary for staying clear of other jet skis and boaters. Get back in control of your jet ski in less than five minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Grab onto the jet ski's reboarding handle with one hand, and then grab the back of the jet ski at a place that provides you leverage. Hold onto the back of the jet ski with two hands if your model does not come equipped with a reboarding handle.

    • 2

Thrust your body upward by kicking both your feet and pulling yourself up onto the jet ski. The reboarding handle, or leverage points, allow your arms to have the strength needed to pull yourself upward, in combination with your legs' kicks.

    • 3

Position your feet onto the jet ski immediately, while maintaining a "catcher" position, Keep your feet flat, with your knees and hips bent, similar to a catcher in a baseball game. This keeps the jet ski from capsizing. Redistribute your weight to the opposite side with your foot if you feel the jet ski leaning in the other direction.

    • 4

Sit down on the jet ski and hold both of the handles for stability. Reattach your safety lanyard after gaining full control of the jet ski.
