How to Take Off the CVT Cover on a Polaris 300 ATV

The Polaris 300 ATV is a rugged, off-road machine that can take you deep into the wilderness. This model of ATV uses a CVT, or constant variable transmission. It contains two V-shaped pulleys that expand and contract with the engine's RPMs. The result is a change in the diameter of the belt inside the pulleys, which increases or decreases the drive ratio. This type of transmission accelerates by simply pressing the throttle. Occasionally, the belt needs changing to maintain the operation of the system.
