How to Lubricate a Bowflex

Nautilus Inc. makes several models of Bowflex exercise machines, ranging from lifting machines to treadmills. These machines require different maintenance, and some may need routine lubrication of mechanical parts to reduce wear and tear. For Bowflex treadmills, Nautilus suggests you lubricate the running belt every 250 miles. However, the Bowflex Revolution and other lifting machines have pre-lubricated cables that are encased in a protective coating. These don't require lubrication unless you notice squeaking.

Things You'll Need

  • Bowflex gel tube lubricant or silicone spray

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your Bowflex exercise machine, after using it long enough to warm up the motor. Unplug the cord from the wall and from the machine.

    • 2

Lubricate the machine while it's still warm. Spray the upper-arm pulley systems, lower pulley system and both pulleys below the seating deck on your Bowflex Revolution, with one to two pumps of the silicone spray. Use a dime-size amount of the gel tube lubricant on a treadmill. Lift each side of the walking belt and apply a small amount of lubricant to the underside of the belt.

    • 3

Plug your exercise machine back in and step aside if you are lubricating a treadmill.

    • 4

Use a Revolution machine as you normally would for three to five minutes to see if the squeaking persists. Turn a treadmill machine on and let it run at its lowest speed for 15 seconds. Wipe away any excess lubrication with the rag.
