How to Troubleshoot English Mark Darts

The darts that are used with the English Mark Darts gaming cabinet register when striking the electronic scoreboard. If the board does not "see" that the dart has hit it, the dart has a problem that must be corrected. You can troubleshoot the likely problems that can cause the dart not to work correctly. No special tools are needed, and you do not need to disassemble the cabinet.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Spray household cleaner on a soft cloth. Rub the head of the dart with the moistened section of the cloth for 10 seconds. Let the dart's head air dry before tossing the dart at the board.

    • 2

Remove the screws from around the head of the dart with a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Unscrew the nut from around the head with needle-nose pliers. Lift the head off the dart's body. Upend the dart so that any foreign substance can fall out. Blow out the dart with a burst of compressed air. Replace the head and screw on the nut. Tighten the nut with the pliers. Reattach the screws.

    • 3

Hold the dart in one hand with the head (point) facing down. Place the side of the forefinger on your other hand against the feathers closest to the head on one side. Place the side of your thumb against the feathers closest to the head on the other side. Press in on both the forefinger and the thumb. Drag thumb and finger up the feathers. Remove the forefinger and thumb from the dart when you reach the end of the feathers. Repeat this procedure four times to realign the feathers so that the dart will fly correctly when tossed.
