How to Remove a Go-Kart Shaft Pin

Go-karts offer hours of fun for the whole family. The shaft on a go-kart is part of the steering assembly. It is a fairly sturdy piece, but it can sustain damage from crashes or severe jolts, such as bumps and potholes. If the go-kart shaft gets bent, it has to be removed. The shaft pin is a small metal component that helps secure the shaft to the steering assembly. The pin is typically removed during shaft replacement.

• Adjustable wrench
• Flat head screwdriver
• Pliers

     Check to make sure the go-kart is not hot before making any repairs.

   • 2

     Remove the two steering wheel bolts with an adjustable wrench.

   • 3

     Pry off the steering wheel cap with a flat head screwdriver

   • 4

     Pull the go-kart's steering wheel off of the steering shaft. This will give you access to the shaft pin.

   • 5

     Bend the ends of the shaft pin downward and straight with a pair of pliers then slide it out of the steering shaft.
