How to Make a Circular City With a Photo Technique

You may have seen circular photo layouts of cities on the Internet and wondered who created it and how they did it. For an experienced hobbyist photographer, the process is simple if you have the right equipment. The hardest part is holding the camera steady while you are taking the pictures for the layout. Once you have that technique down, you can do all the rest using your computer.

Things You'll Need

  • Digital camera
  • Photo editing software that has a "stitching" capability

Instructions

    • 1

Find an area of the city where there are a lot of interesting details like unusual architecture or bright colors.

    • 2

Stand in the middle of the scene.

    • 3

Set your camera to Burst Mode or Sports Mode. This will enable the camera to take pictures continuously as long as your finger is on the shutter button.

    • 4

Place the viewfinder against your eye and focus the camera or set it to Auto Focus.

    • 5

Press your finger down on the shutter button and hold it down as you rotate your body 360 degrees. Let go of the shutter button when you return to your original position.

    • 6

Upload your photos to your computer.

    • 7

Open your photo stitching software and push the "Load" button to load your photos to the software's work space.

    • 8

Sew the photos together in a continuous line using your photo editing software's Stitch feature. Once this option is selected, the software should automatically join all of the photos together in a line, making one panoramic image.

    • 9

Drag the enhancement feature tabs to the right or left with your mouse to select the Tone Mapping option and adjust the brightness, contrast and color saturation to your liking.

    • 10

Select the 360 option to stitch the first photograph with the last to complete the circle. This option may also be called the "circular" option.

    • 11

Save your circular city layout as a JPEG file.
