How to Make a Pipe Without Aluminum

Pipes are useful for all sorts of recreational activities. Whether you're smoking plain or flavored tobacco, many people like to use pipes to get the full effect of the tobacco's taste. Aluminum is not a good material to use when making a pipe, however. For example, there is evidence that long-term aluminum absorption by the body may cause Alzheimer's Disease. Fortunately, there are other materials you can use to make a pipe that will not put your health in danger.

  • Copper tubing, 3/4-inch
  • Copper elbow, 3/4- to 1-inch

Instructions

    • 1

Assemble your materials. Ensure that the copper elbow fits snugly with the tubing.

    • 2

Cut the copper tubing into a 3- or 4-inch piece.

    • 3

Solder the piece of tubing to the copper elbow. Coat both sides with flux while your solder gun is heating. The more flux, the better. Put the two pieces together ensuring that you connect the 3/4-inch side of the copper to the 3/4-inch tubing. Hold the soldering wire to the joint and use the soldering gun to melt it. Solder all the way around.
