Instructions
Handle the coin by the edges to avoid transferring damaging oils from your fingers to the coin face.
Hold the coin under a stream of running warm water for about a minute. It works better if the water is slightly pressurized.
Soak the coins in hot soapy water until the stains disappear. This can be anything from a few hours to a few weeks. Wash the coin in denatured alcohol.
Soak the coins in a cup of white vinegar or cola for a few minutes. This can remove tougher stains. Note that cola will leave a sticky residue on the coin. Wash the coin in denatured alcohol.
Apply toothpaste to the coin and rub it in with a toothbrush to access the various nooks in the coin.
Rinse the coin in warm water. Pat the coin dry with a cloth. Use a toothpick to remove any dirt still left on the coin.
