Things You'll Need
Instructions
Test your bodyboard in still water before trying to stand up. Try sitting on it to see if it sinks completely or stays partially afloat. This will tell you if your board is buoyant enough to support your weight.
Lay down on the body board. Paddle out until you are far enough to catch a wave.
Pull your knees underneath your body and stand up quickly as soon as you feel the wave lift your board. This is known as "popping up." Standing on the board requires smooth and quick movements. Keep a firm hold on the sides of the bodyboard. Because bodyboards are not very stable, your bodyboard will easily flip over if you do not maintain a firm and even grip.
Position your legs sideways at the top and the bottom of the board. Try to maintain your balance for as long as possible Have a friend time you so that you can determine who stood up for the longest time. Try to put weight on your back leg and keep your legs bent. Start the watch the moment you are standing.
Let your friend attempt to stand up on the board. Time them to see who is best at standing up. The winner has the longest time.
