How to Make Wooden Nunchucks

The traditional name for nunchuck is "nunchaku" and it is a weapon utilized by martial artists. This is a device that consists of two wood sticks that are connected by a rope or chain. You can make your own nunchucks by using wood dowels. To do this you need to obtain the materials for the project from a local hardware or home improvement store.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 wood dowels, 3/4-inch, 12 to 14 inches
  • Power drill
  • 1/4-inch drill bit
  • 1/2-inch washers
  • 1 1/2-inch screws
  • 5-inch length of small metal chain

Instructions

    • 1

      Drill a 1-inch pilot hole in one end of a 3/4-inch wood dowel with the power drill by using a 1/4-inch drill bit.

      Place a 1/2-inch washer over the threads of one 1 1/2-inch screw.

      Insert the screw into the loop on one end of the 5-inch length of small metal chain.

      Place the tip of the screws in a pilot hole you drilled into the end of a 3/4-inch dowel. Secure the screw to the dowel by tightening with the screwdriver.

      Repeat this process to construct the other end of the nunchuck.
