How to Make Juggling Scarves

Juggle scarves to learn the basics of juggling. The slow, graceful floating of a scarf gives you the time to track and catch the scarf. The typical juggling scarf is made of 16-inch squares of nylon fabric of at least three different colors. Instead of purchasing juggling scarves, make your own.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase 1 yard of three different nylon fabrics at least 17 inches wide. This will make six scarves or two sets of three. If the fabric store will cut fabric to less than a yard, have them cut 17-inch lengths of three different colors to make a single set of scarves.

    • 2

Lay the fabric out on a rubberized cutting board. Nylon is slippery and tends to shift as you cut it.

    • 3

Use tailor̵7;s chalk and a ruler to mark 17-inch-by-17-inch squares.

    • 4

Cut the squares out with a rotary fabric cutter.

    • 5

Repeat steps 2 through 5 for all of the fabric.

    • 6

Lay a single square on the rubberized cutting board.

    • 7

Use the ruler to help you fold exactly 1/2-inch fabric to make a hem.

    • 8

Apply painter̵7;s tape to the edge to hold the fabric in place.

    • 9

Pin the hem edge together. Painter̵7;s tape will also hold the fabric in place for sewing. Remove the painter̵7;s tape after you have placed the pins.

    • 10

Repeat steps 6 through 9 for all sides of the square and all squares.

    • 11

Set the sewing machine for a 2 mm stitch length and a zigzag stitch.

    • 12

Sew all of the hems on all the squares.

    • 13

      Remove painter̵7;s tape or pins.
