How to Do a Truck Stand on a Skateboard

Anyone can stand on a skateboard and ride down a hill, but a truly adventurous skateboarder will step outside of his comfort zone to attempt risky flips and tricks. If you have mastered the kick flip and want to try something new, try a truck stand, also known as a no-handed 50-50. A truck stand is a skateboarding trick where the rider flips the board over and balances his front foot on the back truck, while the back foot is positioned underneath the board, holding it upright.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your board on the ground and stand with your left foot on the tail so that the nose of your board is in the air.

    • 2

Position your front foot under the board, near the back truck.

    • 3

Flip the board up toward you with your foot underneath and transfer your weight from your back foot to your front foot.

    • 4

Stand with your front foot on the back truck and your back foot underneath the nose of the board. Your weight will be on your front foot that is standing on the truck, as the tail of your board will be resting on the ground supporting all of your weight.

    • 5

Do a half flip to come out of the truck stand. To do this, use your foot underneath to flip the board back over and land on the right side.
