Design your product. Come up with a comprehensive blueprint of what you want your product to look like. You should make this as detailed as possible. Once you come in contact with a manufacturer, you will have to explain your product in order to avoid confusion and produce it.
Raise money. You may want to file for a patent before getting your product manufactured. This will protect your intellectual property in the product. It also will help you attract investors. Put together a presentation to give to investors. You can start with family and friends. Afterward, you can contact angel investors and investment capital firms. If you already have the money and don't mind taking the risk, you can skip this step entirely.
Contact manufacturers. Find a product manufacturer that makes a similar product. Negotiate the financial terms for the manufacture of your product. You may wish to start with a relatively small quantity in order to test your first batch with a sample market. You can use feedback from that group to fine-tune your product.
